"Guarding London Tower" - Raven
Original Acrylic Painting
18" x 24"

The inspiration for this painting came after Labouri`s first trip to London. She was enchanted by the legend of the Tower of London ravens. As the story goes, King Charles II decreed that at least six ravens should be kept at the Tower at all times to prevent disaster and the fall of the Kingdom. To ensure the ravens` permanent residence, their wings are clipped and the Ravenmaster – one of the Yeoman Warders – tends the birds. Between the ravens and the gargoyles, the Tower will be forever safe. This painting was selected for "Birds in Art" in 2005 and was in the Yeigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum for several months. It is now found at the Benningtion Center of the Arts because it was also selected for the annual exhibit for the Society of Animal Artists. Both of these exhibits are very protégées in the world of wildlife art.
